This is because supply layers are negative, and the text drawn is removed
from the copper.
You could just convert the GND plane to a normal layer, add a polygon over
the whole board and name it "gnd". That would keep your image.

That sounds pretty much what I have already...
GND plane is:
Layer Top 1
Polygon Pour: Solid
Signal Name: GND
I have just noticed the image can be seen in gerbv viewer But!!! only at a
set altitude...and importantly it's not present in the board pic exported
from gerbv...I think it's something to do with how CAMP is processing the
imported image; as no other layers seem effected
.just tried importing the image to its own separate layer(Layer 2) and
giving it dominance over the top layer in gerbv ..but the result is still
the same
