Modal Commandline and Shortcut keys

If we could have scroll-lock or something to turn on/off the commandline, we could finally have quick shortcuts to most commands.

m - move

c - copy

r - rotate

d or del - delete

etc...

 

Right now shortcuts can only be by F-buttons and it's really hard to remember which does what.  Especially since you can assign em yourself and there simply isn't enough to go around.

Having em defineable, but on a single-letter shortcut would speed up editing and allow 2-handed work.  No more moving mouse back and forth between board/schematic and button-menu for different operations.

    We need a user definable parameter to toggle this on or off, and if off ,

    the SINGLE key stroke short cuts would be activated, ( if any have been

    defined)

     

    This is such a simple request!

     

    I hardly ever use the command line! I don't see the need, to old school (

    invented before the mouse! ) and I don't care what anyone thinks of that!

     

    Again this is one of those features that could be implemented VERY EASILY,

    and not effect anyones current use, I would suggest by default its ON,

    therefore, changed behaviour is not noticed, but allow this changed by the

    user, and save with the user preferences.

    I support this. There is really no conflict here. Eagle has moved towards

    supporting GUI and Im sure it will move even further. This is analogue to

    the vi vs notepad++ discussion and notepad++ wins without a doubt.

    Converting the command line to a toobar should work fine. The ones that

    wants it should have it open, and the others open it when needed. The good

    side effect of hiding it is the extra hotkeys you get when the command line

    toobar is hidden, but they have to go when the toobar is visible.
