Processor power

I'm doing a fairly complicated 4 layer board.  I manually routed all the

power/ground/critical tracks.  The remainder I auto route on a 1mil grid

because of fine pitch parts.  It takes about 12 hours to complete.

I'm looking for recommendations on processor/memory combinations that

people have had good luck with to improve performance.  Also, does

anyone know if Eagle has or will have a 64 bit version?  I looked on the

cadsoft website but didn't find any info on that.  My current setup is

Windows XP Professional 32bit, AMD Athlon X@ Dual 3.10HHz, 4G RAM

Thanks

Your issue / question comes up regularly and always pertains to autorouting.

Search the older posts for a number of conditions that cause long route

    times.

BGA's, component spacing, inconsiderate manual routing and the big hitter,

    the routing grid.

If you can double the grid to 2mil the time should divide by 4 to 3 hours

    and possibly less.

See some of the times mentioned in earlier posts.

I hope this points you in the right direction

    Warren
