DWG to Gerber translation

I need to do some Gerber exports of older board files that were originally

drawn in AutoCAD. If I recall properly, there was some ulp to import dwg or

dwf files into eagle (5.11). Would appreciate if anybody has a process for

this that will preserve layers.

Can you export DXF? If yes, there are tools to convert this into

EAGLE script format. Please look into the Download area, Converters

    and Tools.

You could try dxf2scr-1.zip in the misc folder (tools and converters).

Tried it and after remembering how to explode all objects in the AutoCAD

file, was able to run dxf2scr-1.exe. Like import_dxf_polygons.ulp there is

no layer import setup and anything imported will show up on the same layer

(20). Text was not imported at all??

So far (imho) the Eagle Power Tools suite provides the best solution. Not

perfect but very good as the layers are all preserved. I still have to go

through the drawing and update what imported as vias recheck connectivity.
