Eagle 6.1 Crashes trying to make Gerber Output

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

I am trying to get a board out to be fabbed and frelling new Eagle keeps crashing when I try and create the gerber output.

I am using Eagle 6.1.0 under Windows 7 x 64 Pro.   The CAM file device I have selected is GERBER_RS274X.

When I press the Process Job button the CAM starts to make output, the .gpi and .gbr files are created in

the directory, but they are zero bytes and then the program crashed and closes.   If I use the Process Section

button I get the same result.

I am a long time user of Eagle under windows (from version 4 on) so I think I know what I am doing with the software.

I hope it is something I am doing wrong because to release software that will not make output is unacceptable.

Now I have to go back to version 5 and hope I can open the files to create the output I need.

Any help would be appreciated, if you need more info on my particular setup just ask.

Regards

Darren

    Hi,

could you please check whether there is the "pos. coords." flag is set

on in all sections? It should not be switched off in 6.1.0.

I am also having the same problem running 6.1.0 Light.  I have verified that "pos. Coord" is set in all of my layers.

I see the crash on two different machines, one running XP on an Athlon XP-M, and another running Windows7 on an AMD E-350.

Both machines can successfully run the CAM job with 6.0.0 Light.

My workaround is to run 6.0.0, I suppose.

Don't use 6.0.0, but try our new beta 6.1.2.

I've verified that the beta 6.1.2 doesn't crash when running the same CAM job over the same BRD file.

Any idea when a production-ready version will be available?  Not crashing is nice, but supported output is nice too... :-|

Since the fix, and presumably the problem, is known, is there a workaround within 6.1 that will generate correct/supported output?

    thanks!
