Electrical test errors

rickford66

I get electrical test errors and warnings such as "OUTPUT and SUPPLY pins mixed on net DGND (sup)" when I run an Erc.  In the libraries, the device pin is defined as PWR and the DGND pin is defined as SUP, so why does it flag an error when I connect the device pin to DGND?

Thanks.

I get electrical test errors and warnings such as "OUTPUT and SUPPLY

pins mixed on net DGND (sup)" when I run an Erc.  In the libraries, the

device pin is defined as PWR and the DGND pin is defined as SUP, so why

does it flag an error when I connect the device pin to DGND?

The Supply direction is only meant for the special case of supply symbols.

That type of pin will cause any net connected to it to be named the same as

the pin name (i.e. V3V3 or GND).

You can either setup power input pins to be the direction of "power" or as

"input".  If it's a power direction then the ERC will complain when the net

name connected to the pin doesn't match the pin name.  That is kind of

annoying, but I've also caught a few issues with that e.g. GND vs GNDA.

With the input direction you don't get that extra check.

Hope that helps.  The manual describes the direction parameter in the

    symbol section.

    Cheers,

    James.
