ULP for searching/zooming

e14 Contributor

I want to make a ULP so that I can hit ctrl-F, type in a reference designator, and have the board or schematic (ideally both) select the part with the editor's SHOW command and, if possible, center the window on that component.

Possible?

string name = "";

     int result = dlgDialog("Hello") {

     dlgStringEdit(name) dlgAccept();

     dlgHBoxLayout {

          dlgPushButton("+OK") dlgAccept();

          dlgPushButton("Cancel") dlgAccept(2);

     }

  };

if(result == 0) {

     /* somehow execute SHOW name and recenter board and schem on this part ??? */

}

    Yes. But don't program that yourself, because there are at least two

    ULPs that already do that:

      1. CadSoft has programmed a ULP 'find.ulp' that does that, and which

         should already be in your ULP folder.

      2. Find attached MY 'find' ULP, which can search for LOTS of things,

         including MATHEMATICAL values (so searching for '1k' could also

         find '1000R', '0.001M', '1k/0.1%' etc.) and width ranges (e.g.,

         you can search for widths '<0.2mm' or so), including wildcard

         support etc.

    I'm in the process of updating this ULP, so you cannot only SEARCH for

    things, but also SELECT things from out of all available objects. In the

    next weeks, the new version will be available, but for now, use the

    attached old one. Feedback is welcome.
