Schematic select PCB move

Thank you all for your help

I was under the incorrect impression that this forum was supported, paid

for or run by eagle staff. With this information I am now so much more

appreciative off what you guys offer here as a service.

As for apg.ulp, it does not function which does not surprise me as my

schematic is spread over 6 different sheets. I will look at the

scripting option mentioned by Chuck. Though this will be a learning

curve for me as I have not yet used the scripting.

This is a public forum.   Most of the participants are fellow users and

they are not compelled to answer your questions ..license or not.

People here will usually provide an (sometimes very brief) answer to

even the most basic questions so if you get absolutely no response its

probably because a person who knows the answer has not read your post.

Perhaps you were wanting to email Cadsoft support directly (see the

email link provided on their support page under "Personal assistance").

I don't know of a way to do this directly.  You may be able to do this

using a ULP... spin through the elements in a schematic and identify

which ones are members of the group.  The ULP could emit script language

to switch to the board and select those same components.

The underlying problem, though, is that while the components selected in

the board will be the same as those selected in the schematic, you will

not be able to select any connecting traces.

A step in this direction would be to design the ULP to be chained.  That

is, do the above, then as the last command in the emitted script would

be to run a different script that determines the extents of the

components selected in the board, and groups them with a polygon.

clearly this gets fairly complicated when one tries to determine the

extent of each component, accounting for SMD pads, plated holes, etc.

has bothered to try and assist me.

I would like to know if there is a way I can group and move components

in board editor based on a group selection made in the schematic editor.

i.e.. I would like to select in the schematic all the components say

aground my power supply and then have them selected in board enabling me

to move them off to one corner of board. This way I can place them

without searching through hundreds of component every time.
