Running both V5 and V6

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 14 years ago

As some of my customers still run version 5 I need to have both versions

next to each other.

Therefore I created a share V5 that contains all V5 projects and scripts.

Also created a share named V6 and that one containt all new V6 files.

Then I strated version 5 and updated the directorie to something like this:

MYBOOKLIVE\EagleV5\lbr;C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle_5\lbr

So it points to the old program directory and also to the new share for

version 5.

But surprise surprise when I started version 6.2 to adjust the directorie to

the V6 values, the changed V5 values showed uup.

The question is how can I tell Eagle to use the V5 directories when I start

version 5 and use the V6 directories when I start version 6.

Regards

Harry

    Hi,

    you must have two different "eaglerc.usr" files.

    Let's say you use V5 with file "eaglerc.usr" and V6 with a copied

    version called "eaglerc_v6.usr".

    Then you have to start V6 with parameter "eaglerc_v6.usr":

    C:\your_program_path_to_eagle\EAGLE-6.2.0\bin\eagle.exe

    "-UC:\your_path_to_eaglerc_file\eaglerc_v6.usr"

    Hope that helps...

    This is what I did:

    Created a empty file in both my project shares called eaglercV5.usr and

    eagleV6.usr and adjusted the program start as you suggested.

    Then started version 5 first, edited the directories to point to the new

    shares and then closed 5 en started 6 to do the same.

    That works great.

    But then I found that the eagle.epf file in version 6 still contains some

    version 5 information as show below:

    -

    Version="06 02 00"

    Platform="Windows"

    Serial="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

    Globals="Globals"

    Desktop="Desktop"

    AutoSaveProject=1

    UsedLibrary="C:/Program Files (x86)/Eagle_5/lbr/19inch.lbr"

    UsedLibrary="C:/Program Files (x86)/Eagle_5/lbr/40xx.lbr"

    UsedLibrary="C:/Program Files (x86)/Eagle_5/lbr/41xx.lbr"

    UsedLibrary="C:/Program Files (x86)/Eagle_5/lbr/45xx.lbr"

    -

    I thought I could solve this problem by doing a library update all but with

    no success.

    Is this noral or a bug?

    I did a search on theeaglerc.usr files on my system but found none.

    Should I create this by myself?
