Nets won't connect to pins

Hi,

I'm having problems making changes to a schematic I created a couple of

weeks ago. Basically I can't get any new nets to actually connect to any of

the pins I drop them on. I can place the ends of the net without problems,

but if I then try to pick up and move either the component or the net then

the two become separated (demonstrating that they weren't connected

properly in the first place). I've had this problem before, and it can

normally be cured by matching the size of the schematic grid to the

component grid. However, this isn't working this time.

I've also tried setting the grid size to 'finest' and zooming right onto

the components before attempting the connection, but the results are the

same. There's nothing special about any of the components I'm using either,

I've already got several copies of them successfully connected elsewhere on

the same schematic.

I'm using version 5.11 for windows running on windows XP professional.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Ok, I seem to have got a work-around even if I still don't know the exact

cause of the problem in the first place. I've deleted the extra components

from the schematic, and then added them again from the library, I can now

connect a net to them without problems.

Obviously the symbols were off-grid for whatever reason/cause.

You might also have snapped them to the grid again by holding the ctl

key down when picking them with MOVE (see manual and/or help).

(Additionally, there are snapping ULPs if it's about many symbols.)

It appears (IMHO) that the components somehow 'inherited' it's grid

settings when I cut 'n' pasted them into the schematic in the 1st place,

somehow preventing them from connecting to the net in the new schematic.

Hard to say afterwards what has happened, at least for anyone else.

Eventually you had another grid active when doing the CUT/PASTE, or you

used the right mouse button after CUT instead of defining an on-grid

reference coordinate with the left mouse button...

I'm still not sure why (assuming this is the case) even when I set the grid

to 'finest' I couldn't attach any net connections to them.

Just Forget "grid finest" - it's simply not possible to exactly hit

the pins with that, and finally you make things even worse by moving

    more objects into off-grid positions.

    Tilmann

P.S. There's only one good use for "grid finest": measuring distances

(related to the MARK position), since EAGLE lacks a proper instrument

    for this.

If anyone has a better answer, then I'd still like to know.
