Integrate with Circuit Simulator

Former Member

It would be great if Cadsoft offered an integrated software simulator to go along with Eagle. I have the B2 Spice software, but it never really integrated well (or at all) with Eagle. That is the one thing that I really miss.

Is there any plan to upgrade Eagle with simulation?

    Hi Thomas,

There are plans to do this. Keep your eyes open you should see something

by the end of this year.

Ugh, sounds like you guys are "chasing rainbows". Real simulation

takes thought and careful modelling, Eagle is not meant for this. How is

the user going to indicate that the 2-pin connector that represents a

voltage input to the PCB should be modelled by a voltage source with 2.3

ohm series resistance and 100us risetime?

There are about 1 bazillion REALLY GOOD ideas on this newsgroup for

improving Eagle's SCHEMATIC AND LAYOUT abilities that have been around

forever (well...at least since v3 when I started) that just never get

implemented. If Eagle chases the low-cost "pretty face" CAD tools by

    implementing "simulation lite" it is entering a race to the bottom;

instead of being the best tool in its class it will be just another

little fish in a big sea of mediocre tools intended for hobbyists. It's

already headed that way with the Newark integration {smiley eek

    jivemacro verylame}.

    It's sad. Just IMHO.

    Andrew.

That's some misunderstanding. We are not developing simulation capabilities ourselves, we're working on import/export

between EAGLE and a simulation system based on SPICE. We would have that already if there weren't much differences

(partly incompatibilities) in the data models.

I agree, it would be a bad idea to leave our market area PCB design.

And yes, we have plenty of good suggestions from our customers that we partly pick up (depending on reasonability

and feasibility) to become better and better image

The Newark integration is not part of our software and not from us.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

    Walter Spermann
