CAM output bug, all versions.

xxxajk
xxxajk over 10 years ago

Eagle 7.3.0 on Linux (and quite possible ALL older versions) has a very annoying bug.

When outputting CAM file, the coordinates seem to always be off +0.01 inches in both the X and Y directions..

Here is an example with X/Y offset at 0.5inches

image

If I subtract an additional 0.01 inches it will line up, but this is clearly a bug. I should not have to do this.

Looking at the output, the offset is not set correctly. It is using an offset of -0.49!

This also happens in the positive direction, or if there is to be no offset at all.

This is the output with a "0" offset. Clearly it is not at zero.

Hi Andrew, I hope you're doing well. I don't think this is a bug, you probably have the pos. coords setting on in the CAM processor. For this setting to work properly all of the tabs within your CAM job…

Update: it is also off by 50% of the line width at zero too.

a 12 mil line will make the offset wrong by 0.016 inches.

    Hi Andrew,

I hope you're doing well. I don't think this is a bug, you probably have

the pos. coords setting on in the CAM processor. For this setting to

work properly all of the tabs within your CAM job need to have it set

the same way. (All checked or none checked).

It basically adds a small offset so that all of your board data is on

the positive X and Y axis. If you disable the checkbox in your CAM jobs

you'll see that everything is as you expect.

    hth,

    Jorge Garcia

0.016 inches? Or did you really mean 0.006 inches?
