Very simple, very wanted GRID feature

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 13 years ago

Hi

I often work on boards with big difference in size of components.

This involves changing the grid size all the time.

The only thing i need is to be able on a hotkey to duble and half grid.

No need for gui parts just the command eg. GRID MUL2 and GRID DIV2

NOT to be confused with the multiplier in the grid menu that only changes the displaying in multiplums

I tryed to make a hot key for the grids i use the most but it becomes alot of keys to remember

insted of just two and i ended up back to changing in in the menu...

I belive that there was the posibility in some old version in the form of two buttons under grid settings but i am no sure.

I remember being anoid about a change in that menu...

As a programmer I cant see this taking more than an hour to implement and perhaps another to test posible problems.

Keep up the good work

I have been using Eagle more or less daily both in the free and pro version for some 10 years now.

And like it very much especially the going to XML format since this has opend op for using software dev. versioning tools like GIT, SVN or CVS.

We allready moved all our eagle projects in to GIT repositorys, meaning perfect version history throughout the project. Also takes care of merging

Librarys when two persons have added a component be fore sync'ing.

Best regards

    In article <khdcnp$73d$1@cheetah.cadsoft.de>,

    warrenbrayshaw@paradise.net.nz says...

You wont see attachments at Element14. Its a poorly implemented  front end

    to the news group.

Use Eagle Central which is a far better front end.

Here's the link to my post ...

I'm so glad someone else agrees with me about this.

I've stopped strugling with element14 altogether.

Talk about spam filled confusion. I found it

impossible to get anywhere with it.

I didnt know there was an alternative - thank you.

    How about alias?

Well it is essentialy the same as defning a hot key with the parameters.

Must say I did not enter my mind to use ULP to do it.

Also did not spend any time on getting into that langauge.

Anyway it was a sugestion for future release since i belive it is better to have

native functions rather than every body sitting with there own ulp modyfied version.

Not to say i dont love the consept of ulp to expand with special functions.
