A problem with routing

autodeskguest

Hi,

people here at the newsgroup helped me a couple of times once ago so I

thought someone might know if there is a way to avoid the bends on

these two traces (marked with the arrows):

The routing grid is 10 mils because I have SMD elements. Is there

something I could do with these two traces or should I just leave them

as they are?

There is no need to change them as the drill goes right through them. That

said  you can improve the look. Just MOVE the larger traces that bend at the

    last moment

Select MOVE, click the middle of the large traces  and you can move them to

the next grid line which looks like it would be perfect.

That way I got the traces that were nearly perfect at the switch pad

place but moving the large trace changed the slope on the left hand.

Starting the trace from the switch pad, as suggested by Richard, solved

    the problem.

However, it seems I don't need to route the bottom pad since it can be

connected to GND via the ground plane. I think I'll have another

question regarding autorouting with GND planes. The question is how to

instruct autorouter not to route all of the GND traces since some of

the pads could be connected to the GND plane thru VIAs (and at the

moment of routing the traces, the GND plane on the opposite side still

doesn't exist). I am first going to experimet for a while and then

probably start another thread with the new subject.

    Thank you for answering!

Sorry, I missed the next step. 'Then move (click the end of the wire) to

correct any slope errors that were introduced'.

4 clicks and the job should have been done.

    All the best

Yes, that worked as well - thank you very much for your help!
