Frames: How are they supposed to work?

Yes, that's a good one

Anyway if you want to edit/create a frame you must use the INFO tool.

Open your own library and copy a frame into it.

Go to symbol editor use the info tool and place it on the frame line.

A  dialog opens and there you find all the parameters to create your own

frames, with or without localizer

In case anyone else faces this problem:

It turns out that a FRAME has size properties, but these properties are only editable in the library editor, not in the schematic. So:

1. Load the library containing the frame to be edited, and select the Device (NOT Symbol) for the frame.

2. To edit the frame's properties, use the INFO button, and click on the frame. You will need to click near the reference origin for the frame. (This is true in general for selecting a component in Eagle -- just more evident for large components.)  For frames I looked at, that reference points were in the lower left corner.

3. If you edit the frame's size, you may want to reposition the "Document Field" as well. This is implemented as a second symbol within the package (DOCFIELD). Still within the Device view of the frame, click on the reference origin for the document field. The Properties include fields for Position, and also a the "Add Level" property set to "always", which is why this second symbol always gets added to the schematic when you place a frame.

Good that you got it working.

BTW I fixed my own docfield tight into the frames because I didn't like

the "extra" work in case one had to move the frame.

I tried steps that are in this thread. Steps here are not working for me, I may be missing some smaller steps to get to this point. Is there a more complete "how to" on this topic of changing title block and frame?

How about the manual and tutorial documents that come with your instal of

Eagle.

Found in the docs folder or directly from the control panel in the latest

version.

In general I see the title block as a private "paintjob".

Just draw what you need. Some text examples "placeholders" you can find

by using  help text.

Yes Eagle Manual Section 8.11 give us almost two pages worth of information. I need to read some more info(not sure where its at yet). I believe I want to be able to Use a library so I can place my desired frame in 1 single step instead of the 8-10 steps I currently have so far.
