I've updated my OS to 10.10 and while everything went smoothly, I have
noticed that Eagle 6.6.0 now absolutely CRAWLS when it comes to zooming.
The best description I can give is that the zoom (particuarly zooming
out) "lags" behind the trackpad. e.g. if I have a board file open and
zoom out to show more of the board, I may have only pinched my fingers
together on the trackpad for 1/3s, but it takes the GUI a good 2 or 3
seconds to stop zooming out.
Panning is still very fast, but the zoom is now very very very slow.
I've tried turning off transparency in the system preferences but this
had no effect. On the off chance that it was something very obscure I
also reset the NVRAM and did an SMC reset of the mac. It's a 2012 core
i7 Macbook Air with 8GB of memory, so the machine itself is no slowpoke
and no other application appears to have this issue.
I do not yet have Eagle 7.1.0, although I am downloading it currently
to test. I'm not yet ready to upgrade, and in all honestly I don't
think I will upgrade. 7.1.0 does not have any new features that I would
like, so the $700 price tag is not at all appealing. It's a pity, I've
been a very happy user of Eagle for over a decade now, but that's the
subject for another post...
Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have any suggestions on what to
try or how to gather more information to help the Eagle development
team figure out what's going on?
Regards,
Andrew
