How to route a board (flex) wider than 4 meters ?

lcdvasrm
lcdvasrm over 11 years ago

How to route a board (flex) wider than 4 meters ? Lets say 5 meters wide.

How can I remove the 4 meters limit (+-2000mm) in the coordinates in the board editor ?

Is it by changing somewhere the resolution ?

Will I still be able to export a gerber file that can be understood by manufacturers ?

I use eagle v6.5.0

If it is not possible,

If i design my board at an artificial scale 1/2 and export in gerber,

is there a trick in the gerber format or a simple edit i could do that would change it back to the right scale ?

You wont be able to change the Eagle internal units or the Gerber Eagle

generates. The output will be to size but you could scale up by changing

the units from mm to inches by modifying the gerbers manually.

I suggest you contact the company that will make this for you. They will

provide the guidance for the files they require. Often their web site

    will provide that information.

    Hi Lauren,

If you can code a little bit, there is libgerbv (part of the gerbv

package) that allows scaling, mirroring, highlighting, rotating etc. . I

use it to produce placement drawings (the outlines and names highlighted).

    Hth,

    Bob

    Thanks to booth of you,

gerbv even handles the excellon files. Good.

I will ask first to our manufacturers if they can scale themselves.
