How to update board layout with new components?

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi,

couldn't find anything how to update the board layout with new components added (replaced) in the schematic layout (Version Eagle 7.2.0 light).

E.g I have added a connector and deleted another one. CR check tells me the deleted part is missing in the schematic and the new component is missing on the board.

So - eagle knows whats wrong but how can I update the board automatically?

thanks for any hint

Cheers

Rainer

It looks like you broke the consistency of the schematic /Board pair by

editing without both editors being open. With both open, now, you can

confirm this, there will be a red (ish) dot in the lower right status bar.

Normally it should be green when the schematic and board are  consistent.

There is no automatic repair. It's probably to late to use undo. You need

to manually get the board and schematic consistent by deleting where one

exists in one editor and not the other.

When deleting you may need to do this with only that editor open.

Perform an ERC check at each step, eventually the two will be consistent.

Once at that point, add the required (missing) parts in the schematic. The

part footprints (elements) will then be available in the board where you

will need to place and route them.

In future you can change packages and devices if you right click on the

symbol in schematic or element in Board.

    Hi,

    thanks for your help.

It seems that there is a problem (I) using the Autorouter.

ERC check is OK, run Autorouter (medium) and still everything is OK. Click on EVALUATE and move a component in the board layout. restart Autorouter and ERC errors appears.

Part X10 has inconsistent package in layout and board.

    How can I fix this?

    many thanks for any hint

Somehow the link is now fixed again - schematic and board are now synced with no errors.
