Drill file changes from 4 digit to 5 digit randomly (seemingly)?

Hi All,

 

     I've had the occasional problem here with my drill file seemingly to randomly generate files that are way out of bounds.  For example, on a board that is .75 x 1.2 inches, I get drill values out in the 11" range.  As reported by both gcpreview, and 4pcb dfm...

 

Only on a few boards.   Usually the small ones.

 

Anyone know where I should start looking for the problems?

    Well, since it appears to be an Eagle issue, they aren't interested.

     

    I did find one problem... in the library supplied with Eagle (con-lstb), it is causing the problem.  I then tried modifying text (just something to change) in the library so it re-wrote it, and it started working again.  So apparently not all of the libraries have been updated?  Ah well.  Have a work around now, so that's good.

    Who at the PCB house is having the same issue? If it a sales rep, I

    would lean on the side of user error. This a rather subtle issue and in

    many cases reps are not aware of it. If the engineering or manufacturing

    departments are raising the flag then we would have to look into their

    setup.

     

    If you specify the format explicitly then everyone should see the same

    thing.

    Hi Jason,

     

    I hope you're doing well. The issue lies with the gerber viewers not

    EAGLE. As of Version 7.2 excellon files default to 2.5 precision instead

    of the 2.4 in previous versions of EAGLE.

     

    Gerber viewers take a guess at the format if you don't specify it. With

    small boards the tendency is for them to make a mistake.

     

    If you let the gerber viewer know what the file format is at the time of

    import, you'll see that everything comes in correctly.
