locking something other then componets in eagle

Hi,

Is there a way to lock track or wires in eagle PCB ?

I have created a new layer and drawn lots of mechanical information. Think of it as a DXF import layer. Can I lock all the positions and information on this layer so that i cannot be selected or moved ?

When I come to use the move (and move group) command it moved component but also my accurately placed DXF.

If I switch this layer off completely it solves the problem, but since the layer is invisible I don't know where to place my components.

The Help command for lock mentions components only.

Any ideas please ???

    Turn off the dxf layer you don't want to move.

    Group the items you wish to move.

    Turn on the dxf layer

    Move group

    Hi Warren,

    That does not work since if I turn the layer off then I can't see were to put my component placements. If it is invisible then you can't see it to know where to place !

    This seems to be a major shortcoming in eagle.

    I'm with you on this one. You should be able to lock any object not just components. You could then lock particular areas of placement including any routing which is useful in several ways. Additionally any holes etc you've placed based on your imported dxf file should be lockable so you can accurately place anything that has mechanical dependancies and then lock them all down.
