I'm stuck, can't even open a .brd

Hi,

I just upgraded Eagle from v7.4.0 to v7.6.0

Problem gone, now .brd files open as expected

the file you sent is okay. It's a V5 file that can be loaded here

without any problems.

Can you give me more details about your linux? Which system, window

manager?

If it is not top secret you should attach your file here. Then eagle

users can check what's going on with that file. Mostly this is more

effective than all this chatting, because right now we don't know if the

file is the problem or your installation.

Addendum

Poking around within the demo's, I came to three .brd files under tutorial (projects -> examples -> tutorial).

demo2.brd and demo3.brd opened as expected. But hexapodu.brd bombed and Eagle quitted abruptly just like described above.

More mysticism.

I invoke Eagle with Control Panel to the left.

I then open a .brd file and browse to a filename.brd. On selecting this file, elusive window appears, Eagle quits. Apparently the same reaction both before and after licensing. Suspicious-looking, am I licensed or not?

Overall, about this license procedure: Exact same license text (shown above in my cancelled remark) shows up, both on a fresh Eagle, and after su-licensing. There is no ident following "Registered to:", just empty space. Thus, no unambiguous info on launch: a text just showing licenced or not licensed would do. Puzzling.

My headline still applies.

OK, so you've eliminated that. How are you launching Eagle? Have you

tried just invoking it, without attempting to open a board? Do you get

the control panel then?

Random thought - was that actually the VERY FIRST THING you did after

installing? Because if so, it's wrong. You need to run Eagle, just once,

as root so that you can select the license type ("free" in your case),

otherwise it won't run as a normal user.

Same reaction with a .sch

Any idea, anyone, how to catch it anyway?
