Editing eagle library

Question

I'm having problems with an eagle library I have created. Every time I edit the library to correct the problem nothing seems to change. I have tried everything I can think of and in every combination. I have check all the tutorials they don't cover the problems that I have. Can anybody help!

Does the DRC file alter the library? I thought that this was a filter to find problems, not something that would adjust a library. You didn't give an exact description of what you were seeing by judging by your question I think Rachael nailed it on the head. First some explanations are in order: The Restring tab of the DRC is likely what is causing your through hole pads to be larger on the board than what you specified in the library. The intent of this feature is noble, however since it's behavior is not expected it tends to create confusion. The goal of the restring function is to make sure that the annular rings on through holes pads and vias is thick enough for the pad to survive an off-center drilling by the manufacturer. Everything in the real world has a tolerance, and with some manufacturer's the tolerances on drill locations are actually very wide. If a drill is so off that it passes the outside diameter of the pad, the pad will break and will no longer be reliable. Because this can be such a critical manufacturing issue, the DRC Restring is always in play. EAGLE will compare the pad diameter calculated by the DRC to whatever you specified in the library. The LARGER of the two wins. In your case the the diameter you specified in the library for the diameter of the pads is too small and the DRC bumps it up to conform to the default design rules. So what's the solution? The best thing to do here is to adjust the restring settings to match whatever your board manufacturer requires. If you do that then assuming your board house can make the thinner annular rings you want the pads will not be changed. If the board house can't handle it then you'll see the annular rings swell again and you'll have to talk to your manufacturer. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
