Drill File Generation

I am using Eagle 6.6.0 with a professional license and I am running into an interesting problem in the drill file generation. The 'run drillcfg' command runs without any problems, however, there is a problem in running the excellon job: While the .dri file is created correctly, there seems to be a problem in generating the .drd file. Instead of a single .drd file, there are two files that are generated with the extensions *.drd.0116 and *.drd.0215. Any ideas what this might mean?

I am using Eagle 6.6.0 with a professional license and I am running

into an interesting problem in the drill file generation. The 'run

drillcfg' command runs without any problems, however, there is a problem

in running the excellon job: While the .dri file is created correctly,

there seems to be a problem in generating the .drd file. Instead of a

single .drd file, there are two files that are generated with the

extensions *.drd.0116 and *.drd.0215. Any ideas what this might mean?

Two .drd files means there are two types of vias in the design.  EAGLE can

do both blind and buried vias but those are only needed for quiet complex

boards.  They are defined in the Layer setup window that is found by

running the DRC command and clicking on the DRC tab.  The instructions

there are a bit obtuse but it is complete and correct.

The via types are shown visually.  If you only want "normal" vias that go

from the top layer to the bottom layer then you should just see one

instance of a via.  If you inadvertently enabled blind or buried vias

you'll see another via that shows the subset of layers that they are

allowed to encompass.  You'll have to change the setup string to allow only

one type of vias and then change all the vias in your design to be the

    default 1-16 type.

    Hope that helps,

    James.

Yep, somehow we had a buried via in there and that's what was causing the problem. Thanks!
