Custom shape polygon pad footprint/package?

Question

Hello, I'm a new user of Cadsoft Eagle, and have been struggling a bit to design custom packages/footprints? Can somebody please give me some hints on what's the right/easiest method to design a custom shape pad like the central exposed pad from the picture for example? I know I should use the polygon overlapping a normal pad, the method I've been using is to roughly design its shape and then adjust manually the coordinates of all the lines of the polygon but this task seems to be quite tedious and time consuming, I wonder there is a better way? Thank you very much for your attention.

I think from what you've posted you are probably doing things roughly the right way as it stands. I know it can seem a little long winded at first but it does get easier and quicker with practice. There is definitely scope for making the process easier though, I admit.
