DXF export content question

rht
rht over 7 years ago

Is it possible to export a DXF of the copper traces with the component holes shown so that a home etched test board will have all the holes located after etching?

I'm used to laying out my PC board using ACAD which, when completed, has all the holes for components showing (typically 0.020" dia.) so the centers are etched ready for drilling.

I can export the copper DXF from Eagle to my ACAD for the test board transparency but no hole centers show to etch for drill location. Perhaps this is not something you can do using Eagle? I do like many of the other features of the program, but would still like to use it to make my test PCB before shipping out for professional manufacture! Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When I've done home-etch transparencies I've always used the print

functions, which leave a hole in the pad. There's a ULP that puts an

extra ring on a documentation layer to give you the small pilot hole you

    want.

I'm not sure how you'd get that with DXF but you definitely need to

export more than just the copper layer (16) as the holes are not part of

    the copper.
