Pin with no pad

I will try phrasing my earlier question about off board connections

differently.

 

Is there a way to define a device that has pins with no corresponding pads?

 

I have several panel switches that connect to a board through a multipin

connector. I want to show the connectivity of the switch to the

connector in the schematic, but I do not want pads to be generated for

the switch.

    Just design the "package" to be your multi-pin connector instead of the

    actual switch footprint.  I've got a lot of packages like that for

    things like batteries, speakers, switches, flash tubes.  They all look

    like two pins with 0.1inch spacing...

     

    Alternately, leave the package outside the board area and don't connect

    to it when you design the board...
