Vista- files missing when searched for.

Hello,

I just installed EAGLE on a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop.

I can create projects and schematics, boards, and gerber plots. However,

when I try to find them in explorer, they are gone. I open eagle and they

are there.

Also, any library files I create are there for editing. I then go to

Libraries - Use to add them. The operation appears to complete, but when I

try to use them, to add the parts to the schematic, they are not .in the

list. I can find the libraries in EAGLE, but they will not load as active.

-

I did find an answer to the help files not working. It works on my machine:

"Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.

I understand that you would like to know which WinHlp32.exe file you should

download.

I would like to inform you that x86 or x64 are platform for Windows Vista.

To find out the platform of the Windows Vista, please perform the following

steps:

- Click on "Start"

- Type in "System" in the Start Search box

- Click on System Information in the Programs list

- The "System type" option has the platform you are using

Jeffrey, for more information about finding the platform please visit the

article "How to determine whether your computer is running a 32-bit version

or a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system":

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

After you determine the platform you are using, you may download the

appropriate WinHlp32.exe file from the web link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6EBCFAD9-D3F5-4365-8070-334CD175D4BB&displaylang=en

Vista is very protective of the Program Files directory. You're not

supposed to store data there, such as your Projects directory.

Your projects are most likely under 'Users\your_name\'. Use the Search to

look for them, but be sure to choose the Advanced search, and Search the

entire drive. Otherwise they will be missed. You may have to add the paths

to your Options->Directories window just off the opening screen.

You got it!  I will try changing the paths to be specific instead of

    "$EAGLEDIR\

Tried:   c:\program files\eagle-rev\ for all directory settings. Still saves

    any

and all new files in the 'Users\your_name\VirtualStore\Program Files\

    eagle-rev directory.

Will try various configurations and get back to you.
