Maybe a bit unconventional, but quick:
GRID 0.5 inch;
SET WIRE_BEND 2;
Draw a POLYGON like this one:
/\
\/ (should look like a square, rotated by 45°) 5 mouse clicks
Now use MOVE and click the upper vertex and move it down,
looks like this
_
\ / (it's a triangle) 2 mouse clicks
Now activate MOVE, press Ctrl and click the horizontal line
in the middle and move it back upwards. A semicircle appears.
again 2 mouse clicks
Do the same for the bottom part.
So you draw a circle polygon with a diameter of 1 inch.
Without calculating anything.
