Is it possible to limit the autorouting to placing tracks in directions
multiples of 45 degrees only?

Indeed, now I notice it properly. I ran the DRC and it gave me a huge
list of angle errors, but now I realize they are all inside the pads.

The autorouter does lay tracks only in multiples of 45 degrees(except possibly the last short piece inside a pad or smd in caseit is off grid). Klaus Schmidinger
