Eagle 5.0 linux beginner user

Hello everyone,

i am glad to see even version 5 is available with the freeware license

for the hobbyst, i started using eagle in linux from version 4 but only

version 5 works PERFECTLY.

Since i am a novice i incurred in some annoying problems which could be

easily fixed by someone more expert:

1) once i autoroute the circuit i am unable to rotate or move the

components, to do so i have to type 'namecomponent' in the box that

appears when clicking on move component, otherwise is not possible to

select anything that is not a route.

2) i am trying to make a double side circuit for the first time, it does

work and is convenient, but i am unable to make a clean picture for the

photoetching of the circuit: if i select for example to show ONLY top

layer, i still see the pads ALSO of the bottom layer...how can i fix it?

till now i can only remove ALL the pads or not...if i try to print only

the bottom, well the pads of the top also show there!!!

That's all! thank you very much

Agostino

Please chick if the layers tOrigin and bOrigin are visible.

    Otherwise you can't select components.

Pads go through all layers. They are visible on top and on bottom.

As a novice now is the time to brush up on your manual routing skills.

Learn about current mirroring and numerous other important issues.  If doing

4 layers of more then consider autorouting.

Are you talking about through hole pads or SMT pads?  Through hole

components will of course have pads on both sides of the board.

If you are seeing some artefacts of SMT pads then check your displayed layers.

    cheers

    Thanks everyone

i am not able to manually route stuffs, but i am already able to use

mirroring and other features to make easier for the autorouter..

Now the real problem is the CRAZY price of the photoetching boards!!!

    Thanks
