Change wire cap

Hi,

I have been having a play around with the layout editor in eagle to familiarize myself with the basics of PCB design. However, I have ran into what should be quite a simple problem.

I need the end of the wire to be flat instead of rounded, because with the rounded end the trace 'spills' over the other side of the pad with the trace thickness that I want, since the pad is relatively thin. If the end were flat, then this would not happen. There is the option in the properties dialog with the cap set to round, but this is grayed out and cannot be changed. The change tool won't change the cap to flat either.

Any advice? It seems like the problem should be simple to fix but I can't see any obvious options.

One other option to power supply traces that need to vary is size it to use polygons for them. It is a little more work to start with using the polygon properties get the maximum thickness that passes DRC. Paul R.
