Part footprint will not update - help please.

I created a header part in my custom library and discovered that the pads had too little space between them. I modified my footprint by decreasing the diameter of the pad and saved it. Went to my board layout and updated the library that the part is in. I used the Library menu tab, not the command line.  The part footprint does not update. If I go back into the library and look at the part, the pad size is correct. But, I can’t get the new smaller pad size to appear on my board. Even if I add another header of the same part to the schematic, it comes out in layout as the original pad diameter, not the smaller one as it should.  Thanks, David

This is a known - bad - issue. The DRC globally overrides the lbr-settings

(was often discussed earlier in the forums). Did you enter a value or did

you use the auto setting? If "auto", the DRC will change & override your

value. Use your parameter & not auto.

    Three things to check:

    1) SAVE  your library changes

    2) Ensure your library remains USED. (Green Dot). Occasionally some have

experirnced the library becoming un-used when changes are made.

    3) Ensure you dont have another library on another path that has the same

name. The first one found will be  the one that updates the schem/board.

I'm having this same issue - I went to my package, modified the size of the

pad so that the drill was still 1mm but the diameter was only 1.25mm

(punched it in manually) and used the "Change" command to change the pad

sizes and shapes.  In the board, the shape has changed but not the

    diameter.  Any ideas?

Heh.  I came back to the thread to say I found out it was the Restring

settings in DRC but you beat me to it   I was too lazy to figure

out the minimum pad width on this part so I just set min and % to 0 and

    it's all good.

    Thanks,

    Paul
