I have no idea what version this "V2 IIRC" is, but in the eagle/bin

directory is a program "update26.exe" that should convert things from

versions before eagle 2.6  (in Eagle 4.x /5.x). There are ulp's

"updatemanager" or so in the cadsoft download section.

"Normally" one just exports a library as a .scr file, starts a new

library from a newer eagle version and imports the .scr file.

I believe he means "Version 2 If I Recall Correctly" -- some of our

acronyms don't translate too well sometimes image

Yes IIrc= If I Recall Correctly.  the libraries were created in 2.0 or 2.1 possibly    I no longer have a machine with 2.x on it and didn't know about the SCR export.

I had switched to KiCAD on my windows machine but it does not run properly on mac so I am re-evaluating EAGLE on macintosh.

Then convert the old files using the mentioned "update26.exe" delivered

in all eagle downloads found here:

    ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/4.0/

AFAIK you must put the old files into the same directory where "layers

new" and "update26.exe" are located, usually "/bin".

Under windows you must open a DOS-window, go to that directory and type

    update26 filename.sch

I dunno if this runs on different machines other than windows.
