Multiple copies of an element have all pins connected

jrychter

I created a new element in my library. It works fine as long as there is only one copy in the schematic. But if I place another copy (e.g. if I drop two elements into the schematic) my PCB shows all pins of the first and second element connected, as if they had the same names. So far they aren't connected to anything in the schematic.

Obviously I did something wrong while creating the library part — but what?

    what?

check the direction setting of the pins in the symbol.

All pins with direction set to 'pwr' or 'sup' with the same name are

    connected automatically.

You can override this connection though, by connecting a net to the

    pin in the schematic.

    See 'help pin'.

Thanks! Now I looked closer and indeed, not *all* the pins are connected, just the ones that are "pwr". This chip has lots of "pwr" pins.

So from what I understand this essentially isn't a problem, because once I wire the schematic everything will be OK.
