Package Pad Sizes Revert to "Auto" after a Custom size is selected

Hi, I am trying to create a custom thru-hole component that must have a pad with a smaller diameter than the size generated with the "auto" selection. I can set the pad size when I create the component, but when the part is inserted into the PCB the pad sizes have reverted to the "auto" selection with much larger diameter. I can then go back and open the component and it has the correct size pads. As seen in the attached screen shot, the component on the left is placed on the circuit board. When I right-click the component and open the package, you can see the pads are much smaller and not touching as in the PCB version. Any suggestions?

Check your DRC settings, particularly "restring"

Thanks for the help! Apparently, the restring overrides the custom setting (even though the pad thickness was greater than the minimum setting in the restring parameter. I had to change the % from 25 to 18 to allow the custom pads sizes to exist on the component when placed on the circuit board. This is a new one on me!  I will verify I have not caused any "new" problems when I lowered the restring % to 18.

I attached a short description of the problem I encountered with the solution. This may help someone else if they come across the same problem with custom pad sizes (that are less than the default Restring size calculation).

    Thanks again! Rick
