Is it possible to make a resistor pack symbol where the resistor values are independent?

Former Member

I have a customer who prefer as many of the resistors in their designs be in 8 pin DIP resistor packs, so the resistors can be changed out easily. Is it possible to make a single device made up of four independent resistors? I could just write the resistor values onto the schematic, but I was hoping for a cleaner way.

Thanks in advance.

    interesting idea,

to the best of my knowledge, all devices with multiple gates share the same ">VALUE" field, so the quick answer is no.

but you could just line up 4 individual resistors on the pcb in a way that could accept a dip package.

Have a look at the library resistor-dil.lbr

    Device 4R-N

That places onto the schematic as 4 resistors which you can move around

separately.  When you specify the value for one of the resistors, all 4

pick up the same value, which what you often want for resistor packs.

On the board there is the one 8 contact package.

If this is not what you were after, ask again.

    Cheers

    Warren

    Josh,

There isn't a clean way of doing this.  I fiddled around with it a bit

to no avail.  I even tried adding an attribute to each gate - no joy.

Attached is a library file with a DIL08 package without the pads.  I

added marks where the PTH pads from the resistor package should be

centered.  This can be added to your board without affecting the

schematic, and used as a guide in placing the individual resistors.  You

may also need to create a 2-pad package for each resistor with 300mil

    spacing between the pads.

    HTH,

        - Chuck
