Newbie Questions - Eagle Version 4.16. (Hobby Version )

1)I have copied a similar device to the one I wish to create to my user

library, but I cannot add or delete any pins/pads despite disconnecting

them. Page 244 of the manual says that I need to remove the package.

Which I assume means I have to start again with the package. Is there a

way to avoid this?

2) When drawing wires for symbols and packages is there a way to

temporarily turn off the snap to grid?

Many Thanks

Keith

    1) The "formula" is: symbol plus package equals device.

That means that you can not edit a package or symbol that ist

"connected" (in use) with a device. If you delete the device, the

correspoding package / symbol is free and you can edit it.

2)In constructing symbols you should allways stay on standart grid to be

    compatible with other libraries.

When creating packages you should first check the datasheet if the

numbers are in inch or millimeters and set a suitable grid. If you then

set the alternate grid value to 10 ore more times smaller there should

be no problem to construct what ever you want.

Besides, if your construction is not too exotic you should find a

suitable package in ic-package.lbr or ref-packages.lbr which come with

    eagle.
