Making a device, packages are not selectable

I am trying to create a new library part. In the final steps of the process, combining the symbol with the package, I am unable to select the package from the list. Its on the list, but is a lighter gray color and not selectable.

Can any instructors offer a suggestion on getting over this hurdle?

I have noticed this in other library's I didn't create, also

    Thanks guys,

    That was it.

Now what happen when you have something like a voltage regulator that comes in different packages that have less pin or features? Do you have to create a separate symbols for this?

Traditionally yes, you would. I think something was done on V6 but as

I'm still (mostly) using V4 I'm accustomed to different devices for the

    78xx in SO-8 vs. TO92

It was never an issue for devices where the TSSOP-20 merely had two

extra N/C pins compared to the SO-18 but where it had a doubled-up

ground pin they would have to be separate devices. The symbol would also

have to be different unless the extra pins are "implied" or "hidden"

such as supply pins, and the device could include them as "on-demand"

    symbols.

Again, this is for V5 and earlier, it may not be true of V6. However, if

you're talking "less feature" then it's a change of visible pins on the

schematic too, so that would still be a different device.
