Making a device, packages are not selectable

I am trying to create a new library part. In the final steps of the process, combining the symbol with the package, I am unable to select the package from the list. Its on the list, but is a lighter gray color and not selectable.

Can any instructors offer a suggestion on getting over this hurdle?

I have noticed this in other library's I didn't create, also

    Thanks guys,

    That was it.

Now what happen when you have something like a voltage regulator that comes in different packages that have less pin or features? Do you have to create a separate symbols for this?

If the symbol is exactly the same, you can use multiple packages.  In

such cases, the extra pins may have a common internal connection.  An

example of this is where you have a FET in an 8-pin package.  Three of

the pins may be connected to the source, one for the gate, and four for

the drain.  In other cases, the extra pins are left unconnected.  The

    datasheet will tell.

In v6, it is possible to connect multiple pads (on the package) to a

single pin (on the symbol).  The connections can be ANY or ALL.  In the

case of ANY, the the connecting net can be routed to any of the pins for

that signal.  In the case of ALL, the connecting net must be routed to

all of the pins for that signal.

If the regulator has an extra feature, such as an enable pin, you will

have to create a different symbol to accommodate this and connect pins

    and pads appropriately.
