Will ever be Eagle using real time GPU rendering?

Hello,

I would like to ask if eagle will ever be using GPU rendering instead of CPU, which it using now. It's quite uncomfortable to get lags (I have core i5 3570K CPU) when Im routeng 4/6 layer PCB with polygons etc. Also making polygons more transparent than traces will be great, like Altium Designer doing it. I would love to buy version 7 of eagle, if it can do this.

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Jaroslav Dohnal

I'm pretty sure it does! Certainly when my (ancient) Athlon box reverted

to non-accelerated Qt it had a big impact on Eagle's performance.

The thing is, Eagle uses a third-party graphics library (Qt) which will

use GPU rendering if the base system is configured right. I'm not sure

how this works out on Windows or Mac, but certainly on Linux it is quite

possible to get Qt working that way.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Which operating system are you using?  I'm using a five year old Core2 Quad Q8200 with 8GB of RAM and Windows Vista 64 bit with no lags...

FWIW, I always use "rip @" to clear polygons (turn them into outlines) while I'm routing...

Hello, I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit, i5 3570K, 8GB RAM, GTX 760 2GB VRAM. I'm not sure if it using any GPU lib on Windows, because when I scroll in or out, it uses GPU at about 2, 3%...also I have detection program which shows me which program using GPU and eagle didn't doing it. Altium Designer 14 definitely using GPU rendering over DirectX 10.

These lags isn't lags as you may think...it just renders at about 2 - 5 FPS.
