eaglerc.erc where?

autodeskguest

I can't find eaglerc.usr for version 5.4. I have read the update notes and

searched the specified registry key - nothing. According to the release

notes, another possible location is whatever is specified in a $HOME

variable. Well, I don't have a $HOME variable specified. Perhaps I would

specify one if I knew how but instruction seems absent.

What I need to do is turn off the context menu that pops up when I want to

move a group.

I have eaglerc.usr that was installed under version 416, and I added the

line "Option.ToggleCtrlForGroupSelectionAndContextMenu = "1"".

Naturally, version 5.4 ignores that, and the offending context menu still

inturrupts me. So, now what? I have lived with this irritation for months

and finally I can't stand it any more.

Maybe I should put this in the suggestions group, but why don't you just put

the eaglerc.usr file in the installation or .bin folder, and be done with

it, instead of hiding it either here or there (or NOWHERE)?

Thanks to all who helped me on this. Eaglerc.usr is installed in a hidden

folder under one of the several identities on my PC. I have made a shortcut

to the file in a more accessable location.

To eliminate the popup menu I thought I could add the following line to

    eaglerc.usr.

    "SET Option.ToggleCtrlForGroupSelectionAndContextMenu = "1""

So, after spending a few hours trying to undo a so-called improvement in

Eagle5, well, the context menu changes is still there. The fix did not work.

I cannot appreciate that after grouping and right clicking the move button,

I must then choose between a list of options, some of which don't work

anyway. It's STUPID, but that is only my opinion.

But, what about this: How am I going to mitre a group? How will I name a

group? Split, or optimize a group?? The list goes on and on. Move is near

the bottom of the list. GIVE ME A BREAK.

Why is it even called a context menu? Most options are out of context with

    my previous mouse-clicks.

    (Where's that Xanax?)

I share the idea, but what happens if cadsoft adds a new switch or

    feature to a beta version?
