Cannot get pad names to display in package editor

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 16 years ago

I'm having a problem with a copy of EAGLE V4.16 that I've used for the last

couple of years without problems.

In the last few days I've found that I can't get the pad names to display on

packages in the library editor! Both the SET PAD_NAMES ON command or the

Options -> Set->Misc->Display Pad Names menu pick check box have no effect.

If I transfer the library to another system in our office the pad names

display correctly, so I reckon it can't be the data in the library file

itself. Re-installing the EAGLE package doesn't help.

Is there a hidden layer I need to turn on, an .epf file or an registry entry

that's got corrupted somewhere?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Klaus,

Your screen shot isn't what I am seeing. See enclosed screen dump. This is

of three smd pads with SET PALETTE WHITE and SET PAD_NAMES_ON. The pad names

are P$1, P$2 and P$3 as you would expect, but you can't see them. Before the

screen shot was taken I renamed the top pad to a long name so you can see

that it is actually dispayed under the pad. Weird. EAGLE 4.16 behaves the

same way on both systems here at the office.

I'm sorry, I totally missed that you are using EAGLE 4.16 (although

you mentioned that in the first line of your message).

EAGLE 4.16 uses "subtractive" color mixing on white background, which

means that the default color #7 (dark gray) mixed with color #4 (red)

doesn't result in a new color.

You could set the color #7 in the "white background" palette to some

other value that better mixes with the basic colors.
