Getting an error when trying to rotate a object

Hello,

This is my first time trying to use Eagle.

Simple project, 12 LED's on a ring.  The ring is about 2" with a 1" hole in the center.

I have been following the manual and was able to draw the ring on layer 20 as suggested ( I was surprised there was not "edge" or "cut" layer as in other programs).  I used the circle command to get the location and correct radius.

I then placed a 5mm LED from the library onto the ring.

I highlighted the LED and then hit properties.

I manipulated the X and Y to get the correct position ... no problem.

I then rotated the LED ......Problem ..... it let me enter the value of 0 and 180 but no angle in between.

When I use any other value I get the error " This Light edition of Eagle can't preform the requested action" ... next line  ...."some objects extend outside the allowed boarder area"

Since the ring is only 2" (50mm) and the LED is on the ring, then I would think this is not a problem.

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Also, under properties, I don't see a layer listed.

When dropped onto the ring, will they automatically come out on the right layer ( pad on the bottom .... or top and bottom, text and symbol on top ...)?

Thanks so much .... Mike

Where is the centre of the ring? The light edition requires all copper

elements (pads, tracks) to be within a 100mm by 80mm rectangle extending

up and right from (0 0)

    on top ...)?

Components are on the top side - SMD pads on "TOP", other pads through,

silk screen elements on top - unless "mirrored".

    Awesome!

I had made the mistake of centering the ring on 0,0 thus putting it outside the drawing area.

Thanks so very much ...... Mike
