I'm using Eagle 7.1.0 on Windows. I have a board designed that I'd like to send for production, but I am not sure what actually is printed on the silk screen layer.
In my schematic view I have selected components (diodes, transistors, resistors...) from the libraries that have the symbol and footprint that I want used, and then I edited the values to have the mfg part numbers that will actually be used. For example, for a diode I selected BAS40 from the library because the footprint is for a SOT23 package, and then edited the value to be BZX84C6V2L because this is the diode that I will solder on the board - but I cannot find a library component for it.
The schematic values are displayed on the TSilk layer (I think) and as you see in the screen shot attachment the value text I added is used. I'm OK if this is printed, but if you look at the capacitor's value text it is very long and extends beyond the board edge.
My questions are:
1) Will those values I've added actually be printed on the silk screen?
2) How about the names, such as D1, C1, R1..., will they print?
3) If they do print, is it possible to turn some off, but leave the value associated with the component in the schematic?
Thanks, I appreciate your help.
