Board DRC failure

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Greetings:

I have had, one one or two occasions, a failure in the DRC step

where a connection on the board between two nets was not detected

(i.e. an undetected short between two nets).

The first time this occured, simply adding an unrelated trace or part

would cause the connection in error to be detected.  Also editing the

.brd file and changing the order of the "<wire x1=..." lines for the affected

net would cause the connection in error to be detected (not changing the

topology or appearance of the board, simply the order of the wires listed

for the affected net).

This is with V6.5.0 (Linux) with an educational license.

Has anyone noticed this and is there a workaround?

Regards & Thanks

-Willy

    Hi William,

I haven't seen any such reports. If you have a sample file that can

reproduce this issue, I would be very interested in seeing it, and I'm

sure our developers would be too.

If you can send a sample to support@cadsoftusa.com I would appreciate it.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia

    Jorge:

Thank you for the quick reply.

After some additional digging about, I have come to the

conclusion that the symptom I observed was simply the result

of approving an "overlap error" or "clerance error".

Ultimately I found the hash for the errors in the .brd file.

Removing the line, of course, exposed the error.

So no issue in the software. (PBKC:-)

        Again, thanks for your assitance.

    regards & Thanks

    -Willy
