Why is DesignLink not working? It appears to be constantly "Under Scheduled Maintenance".

I have sent 3 emails to Farnell support but nobody has replied, except to say they think it is an issue with Eagle, which I don't think it is (unless the URL or API has now changed and a new DesignLink ULP is required).

I am using Eagle 5.11 and I can't find any updated DesignLink ULP, so assume I have the latest. The version number "1.0.7" is in the designlink-order.ulp file.

The error given in the DesignLink ULP is :

Error while accessing 'https://uk.farnell.com/pffind/services/SearchService':

6 SSL handshake failed

If you put that URL in a browser you get a page saying the site is "Under Scheduled Maintenance".

    I have solved this with the help of Farnell in the UK!

    The issue appears to be that the Eagle 5 SSL built in to the ULP library no longer works with the SSL used on the API servers. We have proved this by a allowing non-secure access to the API - the ULP works!

    Farnell will leave SSL as optional, so if you are using Eagle 5 you can specify non-secure (http) access and DesignLink will work. This means there is the potential for others to snoop on the connection so you will have to decide if this is something you are happy with.

    If you want to use non-secure access then edit the ULP file designlink-inc.ulp as follows:

    string GetDesignLinkURL(void)

    {

      //return "https://" + DISearchURL + "/pffind/services/SearchService";     // comment this line out

      return "http://" + DISearchURL + "/pffind/services/SearchService";     // add this line

    }

    Save the file and run DesignLink again.

    Thanks again to Farnell UK for helping with this issue.
