Cadsoft is really far behind with OSX support. So how about it?
What exactly is the question?
It is not a question. This forum is titled "EAGLE Suggestions" and I am suggesting that Eagle support the versions of the OSX that are currently shipping on Apple computers.
10.9 has been shipping for over 2 yrs. now, and still we have no official support and we deal with all sorts of silly little bugs.
Ahh ok. The discussion is marked as a question, so I assumed an answer was required.
I have just downloaded the latest version (7.2.0) from the Cadsoft website and it seems to run fine on Yosemite 10.10.3
I guess I AM asking Cadsoft for proper support. So yeah, technically it is a question, but you well know that I am suggesting Cadsoft officially support the currently shipping version of OSX or even 10.9 which has shipped for over 2 yrs.
Are you telling me that you do not have the crazy annoying bug were you try to drag parts in the PCB design window, but you are no longer able to do so and the only way to be able to drag parts again is to toggle back and forth between the schematic and pcb windows. You no longer have this bug with Yosemite? Reason I ask is that several other Cadsoft EAGLE users running Yosemite STILL report this bug, amongst others. For example, I am not able to assign my default folders anymore. Eagle just goes to the same folders (which I do not want to use) no matter what I have entered in in DIRECTORIES set-up. If you have a fix for these and the other bugs please do share. I'd be quite grateful. For example the weird zooming issues in 10.9 and 10.10 have you figured out how to fix those? Please do share I beg you...
I'm not going to list all the bugs present running Eagle on OSX 10.9 and up as they are well documented elsewhere in the forums. As a daily user of Eagle, it waste so much of my time to have to constantly toggle between the Schematic window and PCB window in order to keep my workflow moving along. Enough so that I have now purchased a windows commuter to run Eagle at my shop.
I'd still like to be able to run Eagle cleanly on my macbook Air for when I travel. One can dream I suppose.
Anthony, I also experienced problems with weird zooming issues on 10.10 in Schematic. I constantly have to screw around trying to bring the work space into view or fit it back on the screen - the screwy GUI! Surely there must be a way to stop it zooming to infinity towards or away from the user. It's reasonable to expect this kind of thing not to happen especially after paying for a Mac version
Hi Greg,
Check out the 7.3.2 beta we fixed many of the Mac bugs that popped up on
the initial release of 7.3.0.
You can find it at www.cadsoftusa.com > Downloads > Betatest.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia
Hi Jorge, thanks. I've switched to 7.3.2 but the same thing happens. Things improve slightly if I take extra care using my Apple wireless mouse which has no zoom wheel. It almost suggests the freewheeling zoom to infinity is caused by using an Apple mouse. I'd like to know if someone using 7.3.2 with a mouse+scroll wheel is experiencing the same problem. Greg S
Another vote for this topic. I've been holding off upgrading from version 6 because I can no longer use Eagle on OSX 10.10.
That's not acceptable for a piece of software I paid ~$1000 for because Apple was a supported platform.

Hi Ian,
See my above response to Anthony. Try out Beta 7.3.2, it should work
just fine under 10.10.
Let me know if it gives you any problems.
