The directory doesn't exist!

L:\Projects\Switch\V2\%systemdir%\System32\eagle


 

doesn't exist!

Create it ?

 

That happens everytime I open a .sch or .brd

If I click Yes (to create the goddam folder), it creates a folder next to the project files with the same structure written in the message (and notice the weirdnessness of the path)

 

If I click no, then the program gets evil and full of error message, from opening upon closing of the program, like always asking me to update eagle (it doesn't remember my choice)
Or, if I set Options>Directories, it won't memorize this dir next time I open, or the color I've set to the background

 

And so on..

 

What's wrong here ?

 

I, in my humble knowledge, suspect that's something related to environment variables or registry (?)

It's a recently formatted PC
Eagle 7.2

    I would guess

    (1) The $Home variable is at play here. Read the manual regarding

    behaviour and use of the $Home variable in Windows.

    (2) Your Options > directories is missing a semicolon between two paths.

     

    Personally I don't leave any reference to the $Home variable in the

    Options > directories

    From the manual:

    On Windows the value of $HOME is either that of the environment variable HOME (if set), or the value of the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Personal", which contains the actual name of the "My Documents" directory.


    I forgot to tell, but I'm not using $HOME

     

    The only path I keep trying to insert on Options>Directories is the absolute L:\Projects\

    Nothing else

    But it erases upon closing

    I tried an experiment. I used the browse button in middle to go to my desired folder and it setup exact direct directory without the %systemdir%. Can you try yours to verify?

    Oh do not delete any setup information. Eagle stores things there and will try to recreate if missing his items.

    I've tried Browsing the desired folder.

     

    After setting, Eagle erases it upon closing of the program

     

     

    I've tried cleaning the Projects directories before Browsing the desired folder

     

    Same happens

     

     

    I'll repeat here the message that appears when I launch the program (not through a .sch or .brd this time, whether they are similar):

     

     

    The directory

     

     

    E:\Program Files (x86)\Cadsoft\Eagle 7.2.0\%systemdir%\System32\eagle

     

     

    doesn't exist!


    I wonder if this strange %systemdir% thing has anything to do at all with the path that I store my projects


    • Eagle is installed on E:\Program Files (x86)\Cadsoft\Eagle 7.2.0
    • My projects are in L:\Projects\
