I got a new computer. My old license file is for a 32 bit, and apparently not valid for the 64 bit version.
What can I do?

Hi David,
I hope you're doing well. Licenses are not dependent on the system
architecture, what errors are you seeing?
Only two things can ever be wrong when licensing EAGLE. Either your
installation code or your key file are incorrect. With a little more
info I think I can get you up and running.

That's over-simplifying it Jorge. The whole mess with version 7.0 (and
only 7.0) could be what he is referring to. He may have setup the license
server on a 32-bit machine and now that same install won't work on 64-bit.
Just speculating but the release of the v7.0 license makes this
conversation more complicated.
James.

Your license is not valid for this version of EAGLE!
Please contact CadSoft for an upgrade.
I have 7.2 on by 32-bit machine and I'm trying to install 7.3 on the 64-bit
machine.

That's a valid point, James. Nice to hear from you, hadn't seen you in
the forums in a while. Let's see what the user comes up with.

Hi David,
That would mean that you are likely using an older version of your key
file. Please e-mail me support@cadsoftusa.com with your serial number
and I'll send you a new packing list so that you can download your most
recent key file and installation code.
hth,
Jorge Garcia
The new packing list contents did not allow me to install the 64 bit version. I get the same error.
I'm trying to install in /usr/local/bin/eagle as root.
Are there files laying around I need to purge. I'm getting impatient.

Hi David,
I check and you have a V7 license make sure that you are using the last
packing list I sent you to download your latest key file and
installation code. The name of the key file doesn't change but the
internals do, so make sure you are using the correct one.
The error you mention would seem to indicate that you don't have a V7
license, but that's not the case.

Jorge Garcia
Here are the top two lines of the key file:
CadSoft License Registration File
Copyright (c) 2015 CadSoft
The activation code is the same as the earlier version.
I don't think I'm doing anything out of the ordinary, installing in the same directory as my 32-bit machine.
I need this to work!!!!!!! NOW.
