Using exp-lbrs.ulp

electrodevab

Hi,

I have just exported all the used devices in a schematic to a single library using the exp-lbrs.ulp program

It seems to work ok. (I can see the new library and its content)

After this, when I right-click a component in the schematic editor and select "Open device", I would like to open the device in the newly created directory. Unfortunately the device that is opened is the device in the original library.

Can you please advice on how to link the schematics' devices to the newly created library?

Best regards

Tomas

    Hi Tomas,

I hope you're doing well. When you do a right-click Open device it

always assumes the library is in the LBR directory. There's no way to

specify any other location. Once the part is in the schematic it

maintains no other association to the library other than the library

    name and device name.

To be safe you need to open the library you want to use specifically

make the changes and then do an update using that library.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia

    Hi Jorge,

    Thank you for the answer.

I also tried to mark the original libraries with "Use none" with hope of that Eagle would choose the created library. What is the purpose of the "Use" and "Use none"?

What is then the purpose of exp-lbrs.ulp if I cannot use the extracted/created library?

    Best regards,

    Hi,

with the USE command you can decide which libraries are available

for ADD. Only libraries in use are visible in the ADD dialog and

will be available for the search function.

exp-lbrs.ulp is usefull if you have a board or schematic but not

oroginal the library files. In case you have to do a redesign, for

example. If you have to change the library definition of one of

the components, it's good to export from the project files, modify

the exported libraries and then perform a "library update" in board

    and schematic.

    Hi Richard,

    Ok, thanks for your effort!

The only way I can think of is to export the library and modify the part in the exported lib and then use the replace command. Unfortunately this is quite an effort when modifying a whole design.

    Thanks,

    Have a nice day,

    Best regards,
